Dr. Stanislav Patin is a prominent Russian specialist on environmental problems of the ocean, including anthropogenic impact on marine life and fisheries. He is an internationally recognized expert with the highest technical and scientific credentials and wide research and practical experience in the field.
Stanislav Patin holds two Ph.D. degrees (Chemistry and Biology). He is a Professor of Ecology and Corresponding Member of the Contenant International Academy. Dr.Patin is Head Scientist with the Russian Federal Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) in Moscow.
During his 40-year scientific career, Dr. Patin has participated in a wide scope of research, including studies on marine pollution, environmental impact assessments and sea protection. Recently he has been actively involved in environmental studies of the oil and gas activity on the Russian shelf.
Dr. Patin is Chairman of the Aquatic Toxicology Committee under the Russian Academy of Sciences and head/member of a number of Research Councils and Working Groups under Russian Federal Ministries and Agencies, including Russian Academy of Sciences, State Nature Committee, State Committee on Fisheries, Environmental Expertise Council and others. Dr. Patin has provided leadership for numerous national and international projects in the areas of marine monitoring and environmental protection.
For more than 10 years, Dr. Patin has been involved in the work of the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES). He is Russia representative in the Advisory Committee on the Marine Environment with this organization.
Dr. Patin is the author of over 200 publications (including seven books) in the field of marine ecology, oceanography, ecotoxicology, biogeochemistry, ecological monitoring, environmental management and sea protection.
